We are not equipped to pick up stray dogs. Many stray dogs have owners looking for them. All the dogs that we take in come from the local animal shelters that we have established relationships with, or from owners with documented medical records to verify ownership. 

 
The dogs that we pull from shelters are pulled after a stray hold has expired. The stray hold is typically a week or so where the shelter is required to hold the dog so a pet’s owner can locate them if they are lost. 

 
A dog’s owner will typically contact the shelter servicing their area if their pet is lost. Taking stray dogs from folks who find them can result in an owner having no idea where their pup has landed. 

 
We do not assign volunteers to man phone lines. We wish there were enough volunteers to care for our foster dogs and all the incoming online messages from folks who often forward Facebook post and or stray dog sightings. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to manage that task. A volunteer will be assigned to those who submit an owner surrender application who is the actual owner of the dog they are helping. 

We have relationships with the shelter rescue coordinator and we discuss the dogs in their shelters that would be available when we have a foster home opening. 

We are a web-based rescue. The process starts with a pet’s owner submitting an owner surrender application online. You will receive confirmation that we received your online application the same day you submitted it. 

 
The average time to reply is about ten days. These are averages and they are based on how many volunteers are active at that time. We will assign a volunteer who will work directly with you if we are able to accept your pup. That volunteer will get all the info we need to determine what foster family is best suited for your dog’s needs.
